The Fortnightly Literary Book Collection
The Hub is excited to be partnered with Irwin Library to provide Butler and the larger Indianapolis community a specially curated, living book collection centered on Black authors and experiences across multiple genres, disciplines, and the diaspora. Inspired by the Fortnightly Literary Book Club established in 1923 by Black women, the collection aims to improve access to literary works created by Black writers and expand engagement with Black cultural and intellectual knowledge. Located on the first floor of Irwin Library across from the visiting writer’s series, students, faculty, staff, and community members can check out some of the books currently being spotlighted in the collection. However, the collection has over 200 books and continues to grow, so feel free to check out the full collection offerings here.
